The Baucus Bill Is a “Trojan Horse” for the Democrats’ Government-Run Health Care Experiment
October 14, 2009
· President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid spent the summer trying to rush through their government-run health care experiment before anyone could read it – now they are negotiating a final bill in secret behind closed-doors so no one can see it.
· It’s no wonder – the more Americans learned about the Democrats’ government-run health care experiment, they less they supported it.
· The president said the bill would cost no more than $900 billion, but the House Democrats’ bill cost $1.6 trillion and the original Senate HELP Committee bill cost more than $1 trillion.
· The president said it wouldn’t add to the deficit, but the House Democrats’ bill added $239 billion to the deficit.
· The president said it would let Americans keep their coverage, but the House and Senate HELP bills include a public option that would force 88 million off their current coverage.
· Now, the president and Congressional Democrats are pinning their hopes for government-run health care to Sen. Baucus’ bill – but the fact is it will never come up for a vote in the Senate.
· Behind closed doors, Harry Reid will very likely add to it a full-fledged public option, a stricter job-killing employer mandate and even more deficit spending from the other, much more liberal bill passed by the Senate HELP Committee.
· Democrats will use the Baucus bill as a “Trojan Horse” to impose their government-run health care experiment on the American people – an experiment that would raise costs, raise taxes, cut Medicare and reduce the quality of health care
